Byron Bay:
En backpackers hjemsted :) Australias østligste landpunkt ligger her blant annet :p
Veldig lett å like denne lille plassen :)

Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise):

Fin, liten by med mye å gjøre i områdene rundt :)

Perth:

Småbyene sør for Perth:
Var innom en rekke småplasser sør for Perth: Fremantle, Mandurah, Rockingham, Manjimup, Pumberton, Karridale, Margaret River, Dunsborough, Busselton, Ballingup, Nannup.

All the places was small and quiet places. Kind of liked it :)

NYC :)

The Big Apple!

overcast 20 °C

- Where to start?.. New York is full of opportunities and things to do, so to know where to start is almost impossible!
At the end I just decided to go for a walk in the city to see what's happening, so then I took the sub to Times Square and started to go from there!
Got to see the Trump Tower (where Donald Trump rules), Empire State Building (just from the outside). I've also been to the twin tower place (they where building up an memorial place there, so not much to see), the rest of the financial part of NY, Little Italy, Chinatown, Soho, Noho and everywhere else worth being in NY. I ended at the Ice-rink at the Rockefeller center! Here I just had to take a trip on skates. I also been up at One of the Rockerfeller towers. It was called On The Top of The Rocks! (great view over Central Park and also over NYC and you could see straight to the Empire State building!

The Liberty Statue
I went out to the statue early and with the first boat available. Not much else than the statue to see there, but we got to another place called Ellis Island where it was a museum for the immigrants who searched for the American dream! Quite interesting actually.

After the trip I just went back into town to see more there!

Ice Hockey
Mats Zuccarello Aasen is a Norwegian ice-hockey player that plays for the NHL club NY Rangers!
NY Rangers had managed to get into the finals and played against Washington Capitals in a best of 7 series.
One of the games was on at Madison Square Garden when I where in NY so after standing in line for tickets for 4 hours I managed to get a ticket for the game at a pretty good spot!
When I got in the atmosphere where just unbelievable. You can't really describe it, you just have to experience it yourself!
Rangers where up be 3-0 before the last period, but Washington came back and after FT it was 3-3 and time for some extra-time! After 30 min. or something into extra-time we finally got a winner, but unfortunately The Capitals scored and took home the victory.
It was an one in a life-time opportunity, but I want to watch another game there some day.

Baseball
I also got some tickets to a baseball game between NY Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks at City Field! It wasn't to many people there, but it was still fun to get to see a baseball-match!.. At the end Mets won the game by 8-4 so the crowd where happy at least!

Luxury Hotel
After almost a week in the Big Apple I moved into a luxury hotel at Long Island! (Ravel Hotel)
It was an incredible feeling to finally get a nice bed and an own place! Annah also joined me here for one day so we went out to have a full evening :)

IMG_4689.jpg
The sight from the Roof-top!

Annah, Gordon Ramsay and Musical!
Annah's mother managed to get some tickets to the Broadway Musical, Lion King for me and Annah, so we went to this amazing show!.. But first I had made a reservation at Gordon Ramsay on Maze (one of his many restaurants) and the food here was some of the best food I've had for a long, long time.
Annah could only stay for one day tho, since see was going up to here grandparents for a easter-dinner!.. But it was a great day! :D
I also attended another musical; Avenue Q another day and that one was great as well!

(Annah has the rest of the pics. tho, so I'll have to get them from her first!)

Aussie Reuinion
I met two guys from Norway on the Cowboy-school in Australia and we where staying in NY at the same time, so we had a little catch up with breakfast at European Cafe! Here we ordered some pancakes and it tasted so, so good!

The Capital
I went down to Washington early one morning to meet Tormod who where there for a holiday with his family. Before I met him I walked trough a lot of the Capital! I saw the White House, the Lincoln memorial, the War memorial, Capital hill and some more places.
At the end I meet Tormod on a big, big museum! I left Washington at the evening and got back to NY at 4 AM in the night/morning!

Last day on my trip
On my last day in NY and on my whole trip I decided to go on an Harry Potter exhibition and after do some shopping and both myself some new clothes and some souvenirs before I took the taxi to the airport and then had a last beer at the bar there!

IMG_4739.jpg

IMG_4504.jpg
Say goodbye to Elmo :)

The plane was late up in the air due to to much fog in NY when we where leaving. So when we got to Iceland where we had a small stop-over we had to go straight to the next plane so stayed in the airport in Reykjavik for only 30 min. or so!

Norway
After almost 7 months away from home I finally returned to Norway :D..

IMG_4745.jpg
My first sight of Norway

It was a great feeling to land on Gardermoen after such a long time, but at the same time it was a bit sad that the trip was all over!
Or is it?.. I've actually still have a bit of Australian in me! I've started playing Aussie Rules football for Oslo Crows and in September I'm going with the National team to play in Iceland ;)

thx for following my Aussie blog :).. cya later

Luxury at the flight :D

Big Apple! here I come!

overcast 15 °C

I went early, really early to the airport in Hawaii to get on my plain to Seattle where I was gonna have a stop-over!

While I was waiting I built a card-house:
IMG_4150.jpg

Went to town!
When I arrived in Seattle it was a while for my flight over to NY, so I went into town!
Seattle was a really nice and quiet place and I visited this place:
IMG_4179.jpg
IMG_4183.jpg
Yeah, it's the first ever Starbucks in the World ;)

After Starbucks I went to Mc Donalds to have some dinner before I had to go back to the airport!

Luxury!
When I arrived at the boarding gate they actually had double-booked my seat so I managed to get a new seat at first class instead without any charge :D.. That's what I call luxury!
I got free drinks, free wifi, free food and got to see television the whole way to NY ;)

The Police

IMG_4202.jpg
This sunrise welcomed me to NY :)

I got safety out of the airport and found the way to the subway, but here something stopped me!
The police stopped me and took a drug-test of my bags, but after a couple of minutes here I finally got away and on the sub towards my hostel!

The hostel where located at a place called Harlem, a place for all the Afro-Americans live, so It's a bit dangerous area to live in :p (but I survived as you can tell).
I arrived a bit early at the hostel so I had an hour on the computer before I decided to go to Central Park to take some pics.
After some hours at Central Park and in the north of the city I went back to the hostel to check in before I went for bed.

Some pics. from Central Park:

Hiking over the whole Island!

- Made my own hiking-trip on Hawaii :)

sunny 30 °C

The first day in Hawaii I went to my hostel, Seaside Av. Hostel and locked in my bags before I went for a little trip to see how Honolulu and Waikiki was like!
The Hostel was really great, with free wifi and breakfast and everything :)
Waikiki on the other side was a bit disappointing. The tourism had taken over the whole place so the only thing you could see was souvenir-shops, hotels and a lot of people.
Since my Iphone didn't work as a phone anymore I had to go by myself a new phone and then also an American sim-card so I could wish Jen a happy birthday and contact my GF, Anna as well as my mom and dad! :)

IMG_4108.jpg
Beautiful sunset at Waikiki

Hiking
I went for a hiking-trip on my own :)
First I went up to Diamond Head, then down through the beach and up to Punchbowl Crater and back to the hostel :)
Diamond Head is an old volcano-crater with a tremendous view over Waikiki, while Punchbowl also are an old crater, but here they've build a national cemetery there now!
When I started walking down Diamond Head it started raining and after a while I could see a rainbow as well :)
The hike was about 15 miles long (or 25 km) :) I was a bit tired after the hike, but it was an incredible walk!

IMG_3504.jpg
Beautiful beach on the way!

IMG_3554.jpg
Sight over Waikiki from the top of Diamond Head!

North Shore
I went to Waimea Valley/Bay at the North Shore with a mexican friend, Alberto, who I met there :)
Beautiful landscape with flowers from the whole world. I also got to take a bath in the Waterfall there :)
After the Valley we went to the beach/bay where it was a lot more quiet and nicer than down in Waikiki!
Jumped from the rocks there and saw some turtles as well :)

Hawaiian Culture

I wanted to learn a bit of the Hawaiian culture so I took a free Hula-dance lesson as well as an ukulele-lesson!
I also went to the Polynesian Cultural Centre to learn some history and also have a good time!
The evening-show here were just amazing!

I've also been to famous Pearl Harbor (and you all probably know the story of this place, so it's no point of repeating it here :p)

IMG_3882.jpg

Dolphins
I went for a snorkeling-trip on a boat on the west-side of Oahu. On the trip I got to dive and snorkel with dolphins, turtles and a lot of fishes :).. We also got lucky and managed to see some whales on their way up north to Alaska! :)
I also got to try paddle-boarding and a lot of other fun stuff.

On my last day in Hawaii me and a Swedish mate I met at the Hostel went to the beach where I tried to learn him a bit of surfing, but the waves wasn't to good tho :/.. Later on I went to have some beers at the hotel where mom and dad stayed at Hawaii a long time ago! (Outrigger)

Tax, dimes, miles and fahrenheit!

- Confusing things in the states!

sunny 27 °C

A lot of things confused and irritated me the first day in The States and here's the story about everything!

Dimes:
Got my first meeting with the American $1 notes, and I kind of like it, since my wallet doesn't get to heavy of all the coins :p
But one thing was a bit confusing and that was the dimes!.. At first I was unsure about what a dime was, but soon I figured out that it was meaning 10 cents. The thing with the dimes is that they are smaller than the 5 cents, but after a week I finally got the hang of it! Another thing that is kind of stupid is that they doesn't have 50 cent coins, but instead they have 25 cent coins that's called Quarter dollar!

Miles
I fast got the hang of the term of using miles instead of km. as I usually use. One mile is approximately 1.6 km.
Now I'm really used to miles and have started using miles in stead of km. actually.

Another thing is feet, but since I've been surfing a while now, I got to understand this a while ago. Because when you have a surfboard we count it in feet. I had a 6'2" surfboard and thats 1.9 meter.

Fahrenheit
In The States they use fahrenheit instead of Celsius as we use back home! It took a while to get used to it, but I think I finally have started understand what a degree here is in Celsius.

Back to the right side
After about six months with the cars driving on the left side of the road, it was a bit strange to see them driving on the right side again. Had a bit trouble with which way I was suppose to look before crossing the street. Now I'm finally back to normal tho, but it was good to have a week in Hawaii before the crazy driving in NY, so I don't get hurt there :p

Tax
I absolutely hate how they do it with tax in The States. In the stores apparently all the prices is without the tax, so they add the tax at the register instead. That's just stupid I think, why can't they just add the tax in the price shown in the store! You see for an example a hot dog for $1.39, so you expect it to be that price, but no, at the register the price is suddenly $1.46 instead.
Another thing with the tax is that they have different tax-percent in each state.

cya soon with the posts about my Hawaiian adventure :)
